Update on the Milkweed Nursery

Some good news on my milkweed nursery dreams. I’ve had my state of Florida nursery inspection and will be receiving my nursery registration number soon. I’m so excited!

Of course, having a legal nursery is wonderful, but it doesn’t do much good if there are no plants to support it. I’ve been working on that as well. I’ve been starting milkweed from seeds for a few months now, mostly A. viridis, A. verticillata, A. incarnata, and A. tuberosa. Some of the species are doing better than others. Tuberosa and Viridis seem to be happiest right now. I’m really hoping that the incarnata will do well since I’ve got a lot of soggy areas where it would be happy.

In addition to the milkweed I’m also growing some passionflower, dill, fennel, and partridge pea. I want to have a variety of butterflies showing up.

The next steps on my pollinator plant nursery is to get my store up and running with real inventory values. I also want to get the store looking like the vision I have in my mind. I want to get some QR codes setup that will be used on plant stickers. And then I just need to start posting some news, photos, etc. Hopefully, this pursuit will prove to be helpful to the insects and to the people who love them.
