A Fritillary Emerges…finally!

I swear that this Gulf Fritillary had been cooking for a month. It may have been 3 weeks, actually, but it certainly seemed to take an eternity. This is my first wild caught but captive Gulf Fritillary that has eclosed. She came on the tendrils of a passionflower I had bought at a small nursery nearby. I watched her in my yard and then decided to bring the plant inside a butterfly tent so that I could watch her do magic. She did just that. She climbed to the top corner of the tent and turned into what looked like a dead, dried leaf. She simmered for weeks. And this morning ( a hot humid one) she decided to make her debut.
