Enticing Gulf Fritillaries to My Yard

I’ve got bunches of monarchs visiting my front and back yard, and I occasionally even see them on my wooded trail. I feel pretty good about this as I’ve got host and nectar plants, although I’ll continue adding more of both. But my yard’s butterfly diversity profile is not so great. I’ve seen sulphurs passing through and I saw an unidentifiable hairstreak in a puddle a few days ago, but for the most part there aren’t many other species. I’m a fan of the fritillaries with their gorgeous orange dorsal colors and distinct spots on the ventral side.

To entice the fritillaries I have put 2 passion flowers around the yard. Lo, and behold…. fritillary larvae!

So now I have fritillaries in a few stages. One is actively eating, another has made his cremaster and is literally hanging, and the other is a pupa. With luck I’ll have a butterfly soon.
